Travel Itinerary

Day 1 - Akwaaba ( Welcome)

Arrive in Accra, Ghana (Flight Details - Unknown). Our team will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Later, pre-trip orientation will be given, and in evening, at leisure to rest and recover from your journey. Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. Meals Included: Dinner.

Day 2 - Accra City Tour - Visit A traditional African Market (City Drive)

After breakfast, depart for a sightseeing tour of Accra, the Capital of Ghana. Experience the city’s highlights during this Accra orientation. The capital of Ghana since 1877, Accra is also the capital of the Greater Accra Region. In addition, it’s the country’s most populous city. Travel through the administrative and economic districts of Accra. Also, see the Artiste Alliance Gallery, the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Pan African Culture, the Independence/Black Star Square and the Busiest and largest open market in Ghana (Makola Market). Learn about important events in Ghana’s history and the country’s first president who helped lead Ghana to independence. 

Continue your tour to the National Museum of Ghana in the Ghanaian capital, Accra. It is the largest and oldest of the six museums under the administration of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board. The museum building was opened on 5th March, 1957 as part of Ghana's independence celebrations. End the day’s tour at the Arts Center, where participants can sharpen their bargaining skills to shop for goods from Ghana and West Africa in an open-air market. On display, you will see fabrics of different materials, designs, colors and textures to purchase from.  Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 3 - Visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and (Shopping) at the Art Center

After breakfast, depart the hotel to Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum. After, each member would go for a shopping at the Arts Centre and the Accra Mall. Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 4 & 5 - Eastern Tour

After breakfast, we will travel to Safari Valley Eco Park in the Eastern part of Ghana and engage in recreational activities such as Walking/Jogging Trails, Bicycle Rides, Segway Rides, Oware, Jenga, Dominoes, Archery, Table Tennis, Petanque (Lawn Bowling), Bowling, Dart, Board Games, Swimming, Water Aerobics, Football, Gym, 9 Hole Golf, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Lawn Tennis (Grass court), and Horseback Riding. Also, devote the day to having some sightseeing of wonderful floral and faunas (plants & animals). After, we shall depart for Accra. Overnight at Bridge View Hotel. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 5

After, breakfast we will travel to MaatiSpa for a massage at the waterfalls or the beach.  After, we shall depart for Accra. Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 6 - Accra - Slave Dungeon Experience (Cape Coast Castle) - Canopy Walk Way and Kakum Rain Forest

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and embark on a tour of the infamous Forts, Castles, and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. History will unfold the story of the slave trade which the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today. Visit the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. Here, you would learn about the relationship between the western slave traders and the African tribes that made the trans-Atlantic slave trade possible. It is an opportunity to be up and close with history – to stand in the dark and stuffy dungeons, imagining the experience and conditions that millions of Africans endured. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum.

After lunch, depart to Cape Coast and drive through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rain forests.  Choose between a 2 km nature walk through the rain forest to discover the wide variety of exotic flora and fauna species and the medicinal values they offer or take a walk on the canopy walkway hanging 40 meters above the forest ground. Overnight at Lemon Beach Resort. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 7 - Slave Dungeon Experience (Elmina Castle) And Fishing Village Tour

After breakfast, visit Elmina Castle, also known as St. George’s Castle, which was built by the Portuguese in 1482. Here, learn about the relationship between the western slave traders and the African tribes that participated in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Here participants will witness the dark and stuffy dungeons local people were forced to endure before being sent on a long and perilous passage across the Atlantic. To see the truth of these conditions in person is a powerful reminder of the inhumanity of the slave trade. 

After lunch, explore Elmina, a fishing village that’s both picturesque and gritty, charming and though-provoking. What better way to appreciate it than to immerse oneself in its main industry – fishing! Meet with local fishermen to learn the intricacies of their trade and the challenges they face in their day-to-day work. Next, meet the fish mongers in the village who will demonstrate the various stages of smoking the fish in earthenware ovens. This is a unique way to experience one of Ghana’s oldest and important trades. Also, have a tour of the Cape Coast Visitor Center. Overnight Lemon Beach Resort. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 8 - Besa Abrewa Museum (Western Region) - Slave River - Accra

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and drive to the Western part of Ghana to visit the recently established museum that talks about the past heroes who played a role in the termination of slavery. After, we will drive through to the former slave market in Assin Manso. Visit the site of “Donkor Nsuo”, the former Slave River and market, as well as the final transit point for a large number of enslaved Africans.  This is the final resting place for two ancestors whose mortal remains were returned from the USA and Jamaica and re-interred there. Afterwards, continue to Accra. Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 9 - Living Heritage (Naming Ceremony Day) cooking Class or Relaxation at the Beach, and "Kpaalogo" Dance at Night (Dancing Class)

After breakfast, we shall depart to Nungua (The land of 99 gods) to meet the traditional leaders for a naming ceremony (we will be given our Ghanaian names in relation with the Ga-adagme ethnic group).  After, we will there will be a cooking class or relaxation session at the beach front. Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 10 - Farewell/Departure

After breakfast, check out of your hotel for the Airport.

PAYMENT PLANS

  • Initial Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total tour cost is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation.
  • Payment Schedule:
    • Deposit: 20% at the time of booking
    • First Payment: 30% of the total cost due 60 days before the departure date
    • Final Payment: Remaining 50% of the total cost due 30 days before the departure date
  • Late Payments:
    • Payments not received by the due dates will incur a late fee of $50.
    • Failure to complete payments by the final due date may result in cancellation of your reservation and forfeiture of all payments made.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Cancellation by the Client:
    • More than 60 days before departure: Loss of deposit only.
    • 30-60 days before departure: 50% of the total tour cost.
    • Less than 30 days before departure: 100% of the total tour cost.
  • Cancellation by Anafreka:
    • Anafreka reserves the right to cancel any tour due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient bookings. In such cases, a full refund of all payments made will be provided.
    • If the cancellation is due to force majeure (natural disasters, war, etc.), Anafreka will offer a credit for a future tour or a partial refund after deducting unrecoverable costs.

CHANGES TO BOOKING/ITINERARY

  • Client-Initiated Changes:
    • Any changes to the booking must be requested in writing and are subject to availability.
    • An administrative fee of $50 per change will be applied, along with any additional costs incurred.
  • Anafreka-Initiated Changes:
    • Anafreka reserves the right to make minor changes to the itinerary or accommodations as necessary. Significant changes will be communicated to the client promptly, and alternative arrangements or refunds will be offered as appropriate.
